Yangon – Bago - Hpa-An – Mawlamyaing – Bago – Yangon

DAY 1: YANGON – BAGO – HPA-AN
Drive 2 hours to Bago, the ancient capital of Myanmar and visit Kyaikpun Pagoda with four 30-meter high Buddha figures seated back to back as well as Maha Kalyani Sima, the “Sacred Hall of Ordination” and Hintha Gon Pagoda. Drive further to Thaton, a quiet provincial head place with still a laid-back ambience of its colourful history. You will visit Shwe Za Yan Pagoda in Thaton before proceeding to Hpa-An. Transfer to your hotel and check-in. Overnight in Hpa-An.
 

DAY 2: HPA-AN – SADDAN CAVE – KAW GUN CAVE – KYAUK KALAT – HPA-AN
Start your morning with wandering around the local market in downtown Hpa-An and with a snapshot of Mt. Zwekabin from the Hpa-An town hall area. Discover the surroundings of Hpa-An and visit the hollow-type Saddan Cave, the limestone Cave Kawgun and Lumbini Garden at the base of Mt. Zwekabin with its well known Gangaw trees with rows of similar-styled Buddha statues. At the end of the day climb up the stairs to Kyauk Kalat Monastery that sits amidst an artificial lake. Overnight in Hpa-An.
 

DAY 3: HPA-AN – KADO / KAW NYAT – MAWLAMYAING           
After breakfast drive one hour to Kaw Nhat village and visit the beautiful, with exquisite wall paintings decorated Ananda Oak Kyaung Monastery. You will walk through sleepy Kado village and see Bo Daw Kyaung Monastery Complex, supported by massive and high teak pillars and with a beautiful glass-decorated high ceiling. Transfer by long-tail boat to Mawlamyaing, check-in at your hotel. In the afternoon you will see Mawlamyaing’s main attractions including visits to the Mon Cultural Museum, Mahamuni Pagoda, Kyaikthalan Pagoda and the beautiful decorated Seindon Mibaya (Yadana Myint Mo) Monastery. Enjoy the sunset from View Point Hill, overlooking the city and river. Overnight in Mawlamyaing.
 

DAY 4: MAWLAMYAING – BILU KYUN – GAUNGSE KYUN – MAWLAMYAING
Early morning visit Zeigyo market and then board a local ferry to Bilu Kyunn (Ogre Island). Visit some local villages by an old model Chevvy bus and see home industries making rubber bands, wooden pipes, stone slates and other items for everyday life. Return to the mainland. Next stop will be Gaungse Kyunn (Shampoo Island), a charming Island located in the middle of Thanlwin River. Return to your hotel in Mawlamyaing. Overnight in Mawlamyaing.
 

DAY 5: MAWLAMYAING – KYAIKMAYAW – MUDON – SET SE – KYAIKKHAMI – MAWLAMYAING
Enjoy a leisurely walk through the colourful Upper Market, one of Mawlamyaing’s popular local markets. Visit the impressive temple complex of Kyaikmayaw that is decorated with coloured glass windows, a ceramic tile floor and a massive Buddha image. Drive further to Mudon where the biggest reclining Buddha image so far known in Myanmar is situated in Win Sein Taw Ya Pagoda. Its length is nearly 180m! Visit Mudon’s local market and a traditional weaving shop before heading to Set Se beach. Also visit and enjoy a panoramic sunset view from Kyaikkhami’s Ye Le Pagoda. Return to Mawlamyaing where you will arrive early evening. Overnight in Mawlamyaing.
 

DAY 6: MAWLAMYAING – KELATHA – KYAIKHTIYO (GOLDEN ROCK)
After breakfast you leave Mawlamyaing and drive to Kyaikhtiyo. En route, and time permitting, visit Kyaikhtee Saung Pagoda, the old city wall of Thuwunna Bumi ancient city of the 6th century AD and a monastery dating back over 100 years. Drive through beautiful rural scenery of rice paddies and creeks to the top of Kelatha Hill and enjoy a spectecular view over the Gulf of Mottama area. Later afternoon you reach Kinpun base camp and take a truck (join-in system) up a rather bumpy track to the half-way station and walk up the rest to the legendary 'Golden Rock'. Enjoy the spiritual atmosphere around sunset time at the “Golden Rock”. Overnight in Kyaikthiyo.
 

DAY 7: KYAIKHTIYO – BAGO – YANGON
Early risers may enjoy returning to the Golden Rock to watch the sun rise. It is only a short walk from the hotel. After breakfast, walk down the mountain and return by truck down to the base camp at Kinpun, to your waiting car. On the way back to Yangon stop in Bago and visit Shwemawdaw Pagoda and Shwethalyaung Buddha. If time permits you will visit a small Mon weaving quarter. Return to Yangon and end of the tour.
